2026-10-13

Event Description

The Orientation Program for the 23rd B.Pharm and 22nd M.Pharm batches was successfully conducted on 13thOctober, 2026 at I.T.S College of Pharmacy. The event was designed to welcome new students, familiarize them with the institutional vision-mission, and provide key insights into academic pathways, pharmaceutical industry trends, and research domains. Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S - The Education Group shared his thoughts focusing on the evolution of healthcare, AI applications in pharmacy & fundamental skill development and congratulated the B.Pharm and M.Pharm freshers.

The orientation program commenced with the traditional Lamp Lighting ceremony, followed by a formal guest facilitation led by Dr. S. Sadish Kumar, Director of I.T.S College of Pharmacy. Dr. Kumar extended a cheerful welcome to the incoming students and distinguished guests, while expressing sincere appreciation to the faculty coordinators for organizing the event. In his address, he highlighted India's dominant global standing in the pharmaceutical sector, noting that the country supplies 60% of vaccines globally, earning it the title of the "Pharmacy of the World." He emphasized that the institution's curriculum strictly aligns with the PCI guidelines. Closing his speech, he urged students not merely to study pharmacy but to truly live it, reminding them that the industry continuously demands future leaders and innovators.

Mr. Surinder Sood, Director-PR of I.T.S The Education Group, delivered a motivational address focusing on the mindset and soft skills essential for an impactful academic journey. He strongly encouraged the incoming batch to remain continuously receptive and responsive to learning opportunities. He categorized students into two distinct pathways: those who learn, and "master students" who constantly strive to learn more, urging everyone to aim for the latter to transform into well-knowledgeable and highly skilled professionals. Delivering the inspiring quote, "If everybody can do it, you can do it. If none can do it, you have to do it," he advised students to venture out of their comfort zones to gain expansive knowledge and innovate continually rather than settling for being "another" face in the crowd.

Mr. Jai Prakash, Senior Principal Scientific Officer at PvPI Ghaziabad (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India), spoke to the students about unlocking their indefinite potential to become future global leaders. He stated that the primary objective of the orientation program is to sow the seeds of passion and spark positive change toward individual academic goals. He highlighted how the continuous learning process structured under the NEP-PCI syllabus is explicitly designed to help them apply theoretical knowledge and core skills to real-world scenarios. Furthermore, he stressed the critical importance of building excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats and encouraged students to think innovatively.

Dr. Sokindra Kumar, CCSEA Member and Dean at SVS University, Meerut, opened his address by acknowledging and praising the long-standing, robust academic systems at I.T.S College of Pharmacy. He explained that these institutional frameworks are designed to make students aware of their potential and enhance their clinical and technical capabilities. He focused on the holistic transformation required to turn a raw student into a highly responsible healthcare professional, stating that ethical practice, discipline, moral values, and empathy are mandatory values to be followed. He advised them to build a passion for knowledge, refine practical skills, maintain strong communication, and develop the sharp analytical capacity needed to identify and resolve complex scientific problems.

The formal sessions concluded with a highly specialized technical lecture delivered by Dr. Puneet Gupta, Chief Coordinator of the Drug Discovery & Development Cluster at Amity Universities, India. Speaking on the value-added course topic "AI in Drug Discovery and Development," he explained how artificial intelligence is actively transforming baseline ideas into safer and more effective modern medicines. He walked the students through the systematic methodology of conducting an extensive literature survey to formulate a sound scientific hypothesis. Finally, he explained the six critical steps of drug development for students: target identification, hit and lead discovery, preclinical development, clinical development, regulatory approval, and the ultimate delivery of better therapeutics.

Totally 102 new B.Pham & M.Pharm students attended the Orientation Program.

Ms Deepali Sharma, Assistant Professor, delivered the insights of the course and job opportunities to the students. Ms Sakshi Chauhan gave a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed guests, faculty members, students, and organisers for their presence and contributions. The event was efficiently coordinated by Mr Manish Kumar (PDP Trainer), Ms. Sakshi Chauhan and Ms. Manvi (Assistant Professors).
