World Pharmacists Day Celebration

Event Description

I.T.S College of Pharmacy organised a vibrant celebration of World Pharmacists Day on 25th September 2026, focusing on the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.” Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S - The Education Group extended his greetings to the faculty members and students. He highlighted the importance of pharmacists as accessible and dependable healthcare professionals who guide patients in the safe and appropriate use of medicines. He encouraged students to strengthen their professional capabilities so they could contribute meaningfully to improving patient outcomes and public health.

 

The event highlighted the need to equip future pharmacists with professional knowledge, practical skills, ethical values, and a commitment to patient-centred healthcare. It also provided an opportunity for students to understand how pharmacists can contribute to healthier communities through innovation, responsible medicine use, and active participation in healthcare delivery. The programme began with the inauguration and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by the welcome of distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. The event brought together academic leaders, healthcare professionals, industry representatives, and alumni to share their perspectives on the changing responsibilities and opportunities within the pharmacy profession.

 

Dr. S. Sadish Kumar, Director–Pharmacy, delivered the welcome address to introduce the significance of the celebration along with 5D’s of a pharmacist’s role in healthcare. He emphasised that empowering pharmacists requires knowledge, technology and purpose, so that they can provide the products to patients through counseling. He also acknowledged the efforts of the faculty members and student volunteers involved in organising the programme.

 

Mr. Surinder Sood, Director–PR, I.T.S–The Education Group, further added value to the programme by highlighting the importance of professional growth, institutional support, and active steps taken by students to make a difference. He encouraged students to build strong foundations in pharmaceutical sciences while cultivating communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and compassion for patients. He urged the students to be a guiding light and developer for the learning brain.

 

 

Mr. Sandeep Soni, Consultant CXO & MD, Wixx Healthcare, Delhi, provided students with an industry-oriented perspective on the changing expectations from pharmacy professionals. He encouraged students to recognise the importance of professional discipline, effective communication, leadership, and adaptability in building successful careers. His interaction made students think beyond the obvious and have a promising impact on society. His emphasis on the antibiotic menace and the role of conventional pharmacists was an eye-opener for listeners.

 

The programme continued with an enlightening address by Dr. M. Kalaivani, Principal Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Government of India. She discussed the broader responsibilities of pharmacists in safeguarding public health and ensuring the quality and appropriate use of medicines. She emphasised the importance of medicine quality, standardisation, and regulatory systems in strengthening healthcare delivery. She introduced students to the work of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission and the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI). Her address helped students understand how pharmacists can be empowered through knowledge and become an custodian of medicine.

 

The Alumni Talk by Mr. Nitin Rajput, Director, NCR Healthcare India Pvt Ltd, Haryana, provided students with an opportunity to gain insights into professional life and career development. He further emphasised that empowerment extends beyond professional expertise. Pharmacists should also help individuals to adopt healthy practices and make informed decisions regarding their health. His interaction motivated students to view pharmacy as a profession that combines scientific knowledge with responsibility, service, and continuous improvement. His participation highlighted the value of alumni engagement in guiding students and helping them understand the practical application of their academic learning.

 

The formal sessions were followed by a series of student-centred activities, including a quiz, poster presentation, and community visit. The quiz encouraged students to strengthen their knowledge of pharmacy, healthcare, and the evolving role of pharmacists. The poster presentation provided a creative platform for students to communicate health-related concepts and highlight the contribution of pharmacists to society. The community visit offered students an opportunity to interact with the community and gain practical insight into health awareness, patient needs, and the importance of responsible healthcare practices. These activities encouraged knowledge enhancement, creativity, communication skills, teamwork, and social responsibility, complementing the central theme.

 

The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Sakshi Chauhan, Assistant Professor, who expressed gratitude to the invited dignitaries, speakers, faculty members, students, and volunteers for their valuable contributions. The event was coordinated by Dr. Rajkumari, Dean & Professor, and Ms. Manvi, Assistant Professor and anchored Mr. Manish, PDP Tainer and Ms. Sakshi, Assistant Professor. The celebration concluded with group photography and the National Anthem.
