I.T.S College of Pharmacy organized the Orientation Program for B.Pharm Students (Batch 2023-2027). The orientation program took place on 27th October 2023 and its primary aim was to welcome and acquaint the new students with the university environment, academic expectations and support services.
Honble Vice-Chairman, I.T.S-The Education Group, Shri Arpit Chadha welcomed the students and expressed his wishes to the freshers for their learning and career ahead. He advised students to utilize available facilities and time as time never waits for anyone. One should be very good at time management to be successful in life. He discussed the planned initiatives for student welfare at I.T.S.
Dr. R.S. Ray, Scientific Assistant, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) was the Guest for the program. Ms. Swati Verma, Assistant Professor explained the importance of the orientation program, which is part of the 28-day induction program. She emphasized the fact that now the students have reached a new phase of their lives, i.e., college life. She explained the importance of building relationships and networking in the field of Pharmacy.
The session further proceeded with the welcome speech by Dr. S. Sadish Kumar, Director of Pharmacy. He welcomed students to the World of Pharmacy. He congratulated the freshers for choosing pharmacy as their career. He said that pharmacists should collaborate with physicians to create a disease-free environment. He inspired students to work in such a manner that their efforts to care people at any moment. He further emphasized that developing new and safer drugs is the need of the hour; hence, students should make use of the expertise of faculty and the infrastructure of the institute and become great pharmacists to serve the society.
The program progressed with an enlightened speech by the guest of the session, Dr. R.S. Ray, Scientific Assistant; IPC. He said that Pharmacy is more than simply selling medications. He discussed the value of pharmacists in society. He encouraged students to join research laboratories and institutions like IPC, AIIMS, DRDO, CSIR etc. to learn more about the pharmacy profession. He encouraged the students to come outside of their comfort zone and build professional connections. He motivated the students to start learning about new technology and start thinking in the direction of minimizing the adverse drug effects caused by the available marketed drugs. He also asked the students to learn how to balance physical, mental and social health.
Dr. Neelam Singh, Associate Professor informed the students about the course, various departments, lab facilities, extracurricular activities, and placement opportunities. Such events are a source to increase knowledge and keep students motivated.
The knowledgeable session came to an end with a vote of thanks by Ms. Manasvi Saini, Assistant Professor. The program was well coordinated by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma (Professor), Mr. Chaitanya Vinayak Narayan, Mr. Gaurav Chaudhary, Ms. Manasvi Saini and Ms. Swati Verma (Asst. Professors).
