B.Pharm Orientation programme

Event Description

I.T.S Collegeof Pharmacy organized Orientation Program for B.Pharm I Year , Batch 2022-2026 on 24th November 2022, in which all the newcomers participated with great enthusiasm.
The event started with the announcement of the arrival of the Shri. ArpitChadha, HonbleViceChairman, I.T.S-TheEducationGroup, , Dr. (Prof.) S. SadishKumar, Director and the Chief Guest, Dr. V. Kalaiselvan, SeniorPrincipalScientificOfficer, IndianPharmacopoeiaCommission (IPC).
Ms. Sangya Dubey, Asst. Professor explained the importance of orientation program which is a part of 21 days induction programme. She emphasized on the fact that now the students have reached the second phase of their lives i.e., college life. She also explained about the importance of self-discipline in making ones life to be goal oriented.
The session further proceeded with the welcome speech by Dr. S. Sadish Kumar. He congratulated the freshers for choosing pharmacy as their career. He explained the importance of pharmacy as a career option by highlighting the fact that the lay-offs are very common nowadays in various sectors which is not a case with pharmacy. So, in a way pharmacy is a better and safer career choice. He further emphasized that developing new and safer drugs is the need of the hour hence students should make use of the expertise of faculty and the infrastructure of the institute and become great pharmacists to serve the society.
Honble Vice-Chairman, I.T.S The Education group, ShriArpitChadha welcomed the students and expressed his wishes to the freshers for their learning and career ahead. He advised students to utilize available facilities and time as time never waits for everyone. One should be very good in time management to be successful in life. He explained about the upcoming plans at I.T.S for the welfare of students.
The programme progressed with the enlightened speech by guest of the session Dr. V. Kalaiselvan. He briefed about the four major origins of drug development i.e., Chemical, Herbal, Biological and Medical devices. He emphasized that 30-40% side-effects can be taken off just by the right medication dispensed by the educated pharmacist. Self-medication and lack of proper knowledge is the main contributing factor towards adverse effects shown by many drugs. He talked about the role of stakeholders in academics: parents, teachers, new technology and class-mates. He motivated the students to start learning about new technology and start thinking in the direction to minimize the adverse drug effects caused by the available marketed drugs. He also asked the students to learn how to balance physical, mental and social health.
Mr. Gaurav Choudhary, Asst. Professor informed the students about the course, various departments, lab facilities, extra-curricular activities and placement opportunities. These types of event are a source to increase knowledge and keep students motivated. The knowledgeable session came to an end with the vote of thanks by Ms. ItiChauchan, Asst. Professor. The programme was well co-ordinate by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Professor, Mr. Chaitanya Vinayak Narayan, Asst. Professor, Ms. Aanchal, Asst. Professor.
