Session 1: 9:30-11:00 am
Ms. Sagarika Majhi, (Assistant Professor) along with Ms. Smriti Sahu (Assistant Professor) started Day 2 session-1 of Online 5 - day FDP on Drug engineering: Challenges & Innovations, sponsored by AICTE- ATAL Academy from 13th -17th September 2021. She introduced the speaker Professor Kamla Pathak, Dean and Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medical Sciences, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. She gave insights on an unimaginable topic 3D printing that is a combination of chemistry and robotics. We learned about the design, design to a machine readable format, raw materials required, printing and the post processing steps. She also elaborated us with various techniques of 3D printing like binder deposition, material jetting, extrusion technology, powder bed fusion, photo-polymerization; pen based 3D printing, 3D printing molds along with their applications. She enlightened our delegates about the need of 3D printing due to product complexity, personalization and on demand manufacturing as in time/resource constrains settings. We also learnt about the advances of 3D like 4D and 5D printing along with many types of software. The session was concluded with questions and answer round by participants.
Session 2: 11:15-12:45 pm
Session 2 of FDP was hosted by Ms. Meenakshi Sharma (Assistant Professor) along with co-host Ms. Neelam Singh (Assistant Professor). The session was chaired by Dr. Ashutosh Kumar, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai on NMR spectroscopy in drug discovery. He enlightened our delegates by giving introduction of NMR and its role in structural biology and drug discovery. In his lecture he discussed drug-protein interaction and drug development process. Dr Ashutosh briefly discussed how X ray is used to illuminate drug protein bound structure by giving examples. He also shed some light on the topics thermodynamics and dynamics of drug binding, protein dynamics. In his talk he described how molecular complexes are analyzed using solution and solid state NMR spectroscopy. Dr Ashutosh also made us learn to determine 3D structure of molecule by calculating chemical shift, coupling constant, dipolar coupling using NMR. In simple 5 steps he described the protein structure determination by NMR. He also enlightened the delegates with advance techniques like multi dimensional NMR, TOCSY (Total correlation spectroscopy), RDC enhanced NMR and STD NMR. He shared his knowledge about NMR analysis of ligand protein interaction identified via ligand based and protein based methods. He concluded his session by addressing NMR applications in Pharma industry. Dr Ashutosh quenched the thirst of participants by answering their questions.
Session 3: 1:45-3:15 pm
Post lunch Session was hosted by Ms. Gurvindar Kaur, Assistant Professor along with Ms. Snigdha Bharadwaj (Assistant Professor). The speaker of the session Mr. Yogesh V. Kshirsagar, Lecturer at K.K.Wagh Education Society, Nashik enlightened the participants by explaining about the importance and need of meditation in our daily routine. He also spoke about the management of loss of balance in life to get better living. He performed the process of Sahaj yoga and elaborated its importance. Then he also added the qualities of chakras and its relativity to our mind and body. Further, Mr. Ashish Umap, Sr. Manager, Hindustan Aeronautics limited, Nashik gave detailed knowledge and right understanding of different chakras within our body. He also added that Chakras keeps our medical and mental health stabilized. The right understanding of chakras is very important to deal with the energy level in our body.
The sessions of Day 2 concluded with online feedback and attendance. All the sessions were illuminating and brain storming.
