Inauguration Session:
The 5- day AICTE-ATAL FDP on Drug Engineering: Challenges & Innovations started with the inaugural session. The FDP inaugural session hosted by Ms. Rosaline Mishra who announced for saraswati vandana and National Anthem, followed by which she gave a short introduction about the FDP. Ms. Snigdha Bharadwaj gave a brief introduction about I.T.S College of Pharmacy to all the dignitaries and delegates. Further, welcome address was given by Dr. S. Sadish Kumar. He thanked AICTE-ATAL for its great initiative with sponsorship and I.T.S-The Education Group for providing this opportunity. He also welcomed all the esteemed guests of the FDP who have gained huge heights in their fields and have ocean of wisdom to enlighten all the participants.
Dr. Radha Goel introduced our Chief Guest-Prof. Dr. R.K. Khar, Director, B.S.A Institute of Pharmacy. Dr. R.K. Khar appreciated I.T.S College of Pharmacy that kept abreast the faculty with this FDP for uplifting the teaching and learning process. The knowledge gained at this platform is to train the trainers. This should not end here and must be continued with brain storming sessions along with students and efforts must be continued to provide rich benefits to both the teachers and students. He made a humble submission that the teaching and learning process had made a paradigm shift where the pedagogy has changed a lot due to the pandemic session. He explained four elements of pedagogy to be taken into consideration namely Teacher must know the application and relevance of what they are teaching; Students must be imparted with specific skills with which they can be strengthened; students should be able to express and the class must be a dialogue process where the talk should be relevant and purposeful; abreast with various life skills viz. performance at work place; team spirit; communication skills via keen observation,expression.At last he conveyed his best wishes to the faculty, delegates and the management.
Ms. Iti Chauhan introduced our Guest of Honor Dr. P. Shanmuga Pandian, Dean, Sathyabama University. Dr. P. Shanmuga Pandian thanked I.T.S College of Pharmacy for conducting such a program that will enrich the faculty and students. He explained about bulk drug formulation by quoting examples of Covishield, NSAIDs (conventional v/s floating tablets, muco-adhesive tablets). He urged the faculty to update their knowledge and share it with students.
At the end of inaugural session Dr. Praveen Kumar Gaur gave Vote of Thanks. He thanked the AICTE and management of I.T.S and conveyed his gratitude to the Chief guest and Guest of Honor. He also thanked all the delegates for taking part in this 5- day AICTE-ATAL FDP. Further, Ms. Rosaline Mishra conveyed all the delegates to join the link of Youtube for common inauguration of 44-Online ATAL FDP till 11: 00 am.
Sessions
Session 1: 11.15 am to 12:45 pm
Dr. Brahmeshwar Mishra, Professor, IIT BHU chaired the session on Osmoregulated drug delivery system; approaches for modulating solubility of a drug were discussed in detail. A new form of Drug delivery scheme, an appropriately designed osmotically controlled oral drug delivery system which enables continuous management of the toxic level of the drug, modulating the solubility of drugs within the core and predictability of release of the drug were discussed. Dr. Mishra discussed about several innovative techniques such as Osmotic pump in drug delivery systemand microbial activated colon targeted delivery system. Over all session was extremely beneficial to all the attendees.
Lunch 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM
Post lunch session began with a short welcome address by the host Ms. Rosaline Mishra followed which Dr. S. Sadish Kumar Director I.T.S College of Pharmacy who not only introduced our honorable Vice Chairman, Shri. Arpit Chadha but also read his profile. Vice Chairman I.T.S The Education group Mr. Arpit Chadha Sir then welcomed all the attendees and appreciated the efforts of I.T.S College of Pharmacy team in making this FDP possible. He cherished the role of Directors, Faculty and all the Students in making the brand I.T.S shine. Sir also stressed upon enhancing the innovation aspect in Pharmacy in order to prosper in the current competitive market by quoting the success and failure stories of multi-national brands such as Apple and Nokia respectively.
Ms. Smriti Sahu then proceeded the session by introducing the Speaker Dr. Surajit Debnath Head, Dept of Medical Laboratory technology, Women’s Polytechnic (AICTE).
Session 2: 2.00 PM to 4:00 PM
Dr. Surajit Debnath Head, Dept of Medical Laboratory technology, Women’s Polytechnic (AICTE) spoke in elaboration about Peptide based therapeutics. A new scenario in peptide based therapeutics and diagnostics i.e. Theranostics were discussed in detail. Dr. Debnath explained variousfacets of therapeutic peptides, theirs therapeutic aspects and ways of preserving their therapeutic protein activity, few methods such as suitable delivery methods and enzyme mobilization methods were talked about. He also spoke about| protein engineering with desired traits. The session was extremely informative and interactive with large number of pictorial representations, simulation videos. Hands on sessions on effect of mutation on cytochrome oxidase protein sequence were studied in detail. The session ended with question and answer session. All the questions were very well answered by Dr. Debnath.
The first day of the FDP came to an end with a Feedback session from the attendees.
All the sessions of 13-9-2021 were extremely enlightening.
