Event Description
Under the aegis of our respected Vice Chairman Mr Arpit Chadha, I.T.S – The Education Group organised a live interaction with R.P Singh, Cricketer, today on 6th June at 5.00 pm. RP Singh is from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. He represented India in Test, One Day International and 20-20 International cricket as a left arm fast-medium bowler and as right handed batsman. He first came in contention during the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2004, when he took eight wickets for a very impressive average of 24.75. He plays for the Kochi Tuskers in the Indian Premier League, after signing for them in 2011 from the Deccan Chargers. In September 2018, he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
Mr. Singh with his superb sportsmanship spirit is utilising the lockdown time by working out regularly maintaining his fitness and spending a quality time with family at Lucknow. Like every other Indian youth RP Singh started his cricket journey by tennis ball and started his training at sports club Lucknow. His life changed after taking 34 wickets and that was the time when he was selected for Indian team. He inspired our ITS students by telling that all of us should be process oriented rather than result oriented. Patience and decision is the key to success. RP Singh has a very good bond with MS Dhoni as they both are from same batch. His cricket span is of 6 years. Now he is involved in commentary & coaching. Recently he has been appointed by BCCI as CSA who will select the selectors which is a very challenging responsibility. He mostly takes advice from Zaheer Khan as he finds him as the best bowler.
He told many strategies to deal with pressure on field for aspiring cricketers. He motivated everyone by telling ways to be disciplined like utilizing time, knowledge. RP Singh is a very humble and down to earth. He used to admire Sachin Tendulkar as he thought of starting his cricket career by seeing Sachin Tendulkar as cricketer- THE GOD OF CRICKET.
He answered a rapid fire round asked by the anchor Divya Vaid, with much enthusiasm. He shared so many incidents from his cricketing career, dressing room, on field, off field. He advised the aspiring cricketers to enjoy their performance, not to take pressure of failures and to be dedicated and disciplined towards their work. He also told to enrol in any cricketing club and to practise as much as possible. As a mentor he felt that the fear of failure must always be removed to perform well. He focused on the point that Education and Cricket should be balanced together, and to this Mr. Arpit Chadha too agreed that education should never be ignored. Around 120 Postgraduate& undergraduate students, Director and Faculty members of I.T.S College of Pharmacy, Ghaziabad participated in huge numbers which left them with a lot of information. The students found the session to be really interesting and very insightful.
